Clay Inlay

Look, I made a rhyme.  :)

Ok, I was messing around with clay inlay.  See, I bought these gouges a year ago and never used them.  So I decided to get them out and do fun things.  I had this sage colored clay with gold and copper mica powders in it so this is what I came up with.  What do you think?  I foresee more inlay in my future.  :D  I used PennyJo's flexible mold for the shapes.

And all that wire wrapping!  Yikes!  Playing with my Wigjig was fun and even the jump rings were fun to make.  Except I had to make them twice.  The first set were too thin.  Do you guys know that if you make jumps that you have to cut each and every one twice as one side doesn't flush cut?  One edge is pointy and one end is flush so after they are all cut, you have to flush cut the pointy edge so the jump ring closes neatly.  Man, that took forever!.  But it's worth it.  :D  I even made the wire hook so the entire necklace is completely hand crafted.

You hear that sound?  That's me patting myself on the back.  :D

Feel me patting your back too? You did a wonderful job! Wire work, inlay...the works! Turned out marvelous!

I read somewhere about a lady who wrapped her wire for jumprings around a wooden dowel the size she needed, then used a cutter disk with her dremel to cut them. I haven't tried it but it makes sense that this should work and no having to go back and recut one end on every one!

Turned out great my friend. Love the colors and the wire work really makes the colors work. Good job.

Arlene that's SUCH a great idea! And I *just* happen to have a trusty Dremel. :D

Thanks, Donna. I was going back and forth between gold wire and copper wire but the copper actually looks better. I don't know why as the inlaid clay is dark gold.

Thanks, Norma! I'm going to test wear it today for my birthday lunch with my friend Pat. That will be fun. :)

Happy Birthday, Moe! I love your Clay Inlay rhyme, and not only that, your Clay Inlay itself. Nice work! You are very patient to do all that wire stuff yourself, you know. Maybe you better start selling us all your handmade chains and other wire goodies, no?

Hugs! Jackie

Thanks, Jax! I doubt anyone would want to buy home made chains as they's be kind of expensive. :)
