WoooHoooo! It's a Contest!

Ok, here's the deal.  All of you who are regular readers here know all about the bathroom wall from hell.  After having the wall ripped out FOUR times, they have finally managed to actually FIX the leak instead of merely hoping it would go away all by itself.  What a concept, hunh?  :(

Anyway, yesterday the guys came and installed the new panel that covers the wall from hell.  I wanted a revolving door but that would have made it hard to get in and out of the bathroom.  :D  And it might have been hard for the kitties to get past.

I have to paint the panel and do something with it... and cover those gruesome screws.  For some reason unknown to any other human, Brian hates the frame.  I don't know why, it's just a plain old frame.  So, he doesn't want the frame to be a focal point.  Sigh.............  So, here's the contest....

You guys send in your ideas of what I can do to make this panel more attractive.   and the winner gets this necklace all made by me.  :)

The bathroom walls are a creamy color and the main colors are red and forest green.  The sink and trim is all antiqued copper.  The travertine is brown and cream.  Right now the panel is all white.  Yesterday one of the guys and I installed those leafy panels on the plain panel.  The leaves are the left over tiles from my studio ceiling.  They are also white but can be painted.

So, give me your ideas!  I'm looking for something that will look lovely but not have the frame as a focal point.  Brian is going to pick the winner as he has frame issues.  :D  Ok, here are the bathroom photos.  Have at it!  Contest ends on July 31, 2011.  Have fun!

I vote for a dark metal scrolled hanging - something that would compliment the one over the toilet. It'd be in keeping with the Tuscan theme you got going in there. Or a wine rack (in the metal, of course) so you wouldn't have to go too far for that bottle of vino while you soak in the Furo tub.

NO Ang, I meant, what can I do with the panel itself. There's not enough room to hang a scroll anywhere near the leaves. I meant, what color should I paint or something like that. You know...do something with the leaves/vines panel itself.

You can vote again 'cause you da bomb! :D

Wow! What a gorgeous bathroom!! I can see why he hates the frame...must stick out like a sore thumb :)

My idea: I could see making some really cool PC tiles to cover the frame...then paint the inner leaves and background with corresponding colors. Then create some plaques (3?) of birds or frogs or fish??? and center them in the panels. Lots of work but a very cool project :)))

OK - try again. Stencil some grape vines or ivy around and paint the inside panel to go with the outside and try to camouflage the 'frame'. You've done stenciling on the table on the lanai. That idea. Mahalo for the 2nd chance. (But I still like the wine rack idea. Maybe you could still find a place for it - long and low beside the little table???) 8-) Moowah!

Would it be possible to replace the frame with something else? Like the tile edging that goes around your walls? If not, then maybe paint the frame the same color as the wall so it fades in. Then brush the tiles with a dark red, and wipe them off while it's still wet so the leaves aren't as painted, then brush the leaves with a dark green? That would be pretty. Or even reverse the colors for the middle tile.

Beautiful Bathroom Moe!

My idea is pretty much the same as Marys, however, I would ask your readers to make a tile each in the colors of the painting on the wall and send them to you. You could make a contest out of that too. Guidelines would be size, and what ever else you can think of. It would be fun for your readers and fun for you too. The only work you would have is to glue them on.

I think everyone else has great ideas...I'm just here to give you some moral support! And remind you to not forget the wine!

Thanks, Mary! You sure put a lot of thought into my bathroom. :D xoxo

I like the wine idea, too. :) Upstairs in one of the penthouse condos there is a 3rd bathroom with a wine fridge in it. :)

I Cat! I though Scotty beamed you up! Did you move? I love the idea of paining the panels red then wiping off the leaves. I'll have o try that on one of the spare panels. They are made of super lightweight styrofoam so I don't know if they'd just eat all the paint before I could wipe it off. I'll try and see.

THanks Sandi! I asked Brian about your idea and he gave me THE LOOK. Oops. :D This is so cool, tho. Hearing everyone's great ideas. Moe's Brain Trust! Thanks everyone! :)

Mahalo, Janie! Moral support is good. ;) I'm going to stock up on wine this weekend. I made the mistake of trying a brand I never heard of before. Just a generic Italian white table wine. Usually that stuff is pretty good. This stuff was so sweet it was instant diabetes. Gruesome stuff. Over the years I have always found that white table wine from France and Italy is almost always delish. Man, was I wrong this time. Yuckko!

Oops - forgot to subscribe and only just saw your reply. Didn't move but life has been utterly insane. I've been feeling absolutely horrible that I haven't emailed or sent you that amythst necklace yet. And been convinced that you must have disowned me since I disappeared without a word. I'm still working on the necklace (whenever I find a spare minute)! I will send a long email with all the epic details for you.
