The Contest Ends Early

Well, B found an entry he liked and that's all there is.  Sadly, there weren't that many entries but all were great.  If I had several bathrooms to redo, I'd use everyone's fab ideas.  So, thanks you to all who entered! You guys were super to take the time to think about it and offer your suggestions.  I'm filing away the dry brushing and the grout stenciling for another project.

But B liked the painted leaves the best.  Naturally.  HE doesn't have to paint them!  And standing up, too.  Oiks.  Anyway, Mary L wins the contest!  Congratulations, Mary!  I may never speak to Mary again after days and days of leaf painting.  And..I can not BEGIN to tell you what a bad idea leaf painting is after Starbucks.  Jeez.

Anyhow, here is the beginning of what is probably going to be days and days of leaves.  I'll have nightmares.  Leafy ones.  ;D  But it's going to be gorgeous when it's all done.  Thanks again to all who entered!  xoxo, The Leaf Painter

You are ONE patient soul! I woulda taken a roller to it and let the leaves be white. I think you deserve a new wine for this :D

First of all Congratulations Mary, Wonderfully artistic design! And Moe, I'm feeling for you! That is a lot of leaves! I'd say "Have Fun", but I think you'd come to Texas and punch me in the nose.

Wow. It'll be beautiful when done, though. Make sure you share a photo once it's complete. And congrats, Mary!

Nah Sandy, I'm all talk and no action. Well... sometimes. Just feed me some nice cold pinot grigio and I'll be a happy girl. I wouldn't mind living in Texas again. :D

How did I miss this? Always so much fun to say what you would do with someone else's time and money, LOL.

Hard to tell from the pic just what's what with that section of wall the panel is on but ...
It looks like a narrow segment of wall abutting floor to ceiling cabinets.
I would have asked the carpenters to make a false-front, not just a panel but a piece that would cover the whole segment of wall, to look like more cabinets. Matching stain and hardware and noone but you and B would know that that end of the cabinets is fake. Ric likes that idea, too.
Or, remove the leaf-panel inside the panel and put a mirror cut to fit in there instead. If ya' get tired of all that detailed painting. ;)

Well, I'm sorry you missed it too but the more cabinets next to the already cabinets would have been way way way too much wood in that small area. I'll have to take a photo of the wall so you can see the whole thing then you'll agree.

REMOVE the leaf panel?? Do you KNOW how long it took me to get those leaf panels on that plain panel? HOURS! They will remove that leaf panel over my dead body. And I still might come back and haunt forever the creep who moves my leaf panels. :D

Congrats to MaryL - she always has great ideas! Sorry about the leaf painting chore, Ms. Moe, but you know... after a couple of months you'll be glad you did it. I love the pattern, it's awesome. :)
Hugs, Jax
