Ok, I lied. Yikes. Anyway, I am having a blast making fun sculptures. The top one is a covered glass jar. I had made the little bird and it just happened to match the jar, which was in dire need of lid decor, so the bird went to live there. ;O The middle photo is a new bowl I made from Christi Friesen's tutorial. She always has the BEST ideas! And she lets us make our own from her tutes and sell them, too! So, my birdie jar and starfish bowl are in my Bonanza shop. If you care to look it's bonanza.com/booths/alohamoe The last image is my volcano. I really had fun making this! It's now living in San Jose. Probably the only volcano in the area, too. :D
This bracelet came about because I had this cute little orange kitty face and wanted to use it. Then I decided some fun wire wrapping and texturing would be something new and different. I never realized how many
Naturally, I just HAD to have them. :D Then I hadda go buy an embossing gun as my heat gun blew the powder into the next zip code. Sigh. But, good old Amazon.com had a super one called ZAP! It's great! Has a little blowing power but at least I didn't have to go outside to find the powder. It stay all nicely centered all over our stove. Never mind. Don't ask.

Ok, then another clay pal sent me some different powders that she got from some mysterious source that has long since ridden off into the sunset. But...one of the envelopes was called..*southwest*. Well, I LOVE the southwest and turquoise and carnelian and coral and silver and stuff. So, I decided some fun beads were in my future.

Out came the clay and the new ZAP! and into the kitchen I toddled. Hours later I had these cool beads and a lovely coating of embossing powder on the stove. No. It wasn't cooked. ;)

In my stash I found these really cool faceted carnelian stones. And I got out one of my wire books and made these curly coiled beads. I had FUN! Do you know there is about 2000 yards of wire in those beads? Man, Parawire will be owned by me shortly.

Anyway, here is the end result of my efforts. I love it! ;D
What do you all think? Is there a market for them? I mean, do lots of people wear shawls and scarves?

This one is for my friend. We wear shawls here sometimes and this was fun to make but I can't decide if they'd sell. Chime in everybody! :DMoeArthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03183436606417293829noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7446526933938539547.post-31345367431442139122013-06-20T18:59:00.003-10:002013-06-20T18:59:48.743-10:00Seeing StarsSo, I got all these cool enameled stars and wanted to make all kinds of fun things. I LOVE stars! So, here's a pix of the *before*:

Stellar, don'tcha think? :DMoeArthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03183436606417293829noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7446526933938539547.post-44275873245496525342013-06-16T12:19:00.001-10:002013-06-16T12:19:45.512-10:00SerendipityA few years ago my clay friend Ginger gave me a round ceramic box to cover. I made cool leaves and flowers that look like they had melted on the leaves. ;( Being far too lazy to *do* anything about the melted flowers, I left them until a couple weeks ago when I was washing a few layers of cat fur off the top. It came right off the ceramic box and a flower broke. Yay!

So, I took all the melted flowers off and threw them away and left the leaves, which I must say, were very cool. I put the leaves on my work table then decided to make some fun sea glass. I got my glass all done and no matter what I thought of... it sounded ugly. Then, I looked at the leaves, and I looked at my faux sea glass, and POOF! Instant match! This is the result:

I was SOO happy! The *rope* is wire with seed beads coiled around it and attached to a fun vine-looking wire wrap that I thought would look good with the leaves. A wire wrapped clasp and earrings and it's all done. :DMoeArthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03183436606417293829noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7446526933938539547.post-49817721296542828062013-06-11T12:14:00.001-10:002013-06-11T12:14:02.875-10:00Holy Crow..It's Been TWO Months!Yikes, Two months since I was here. I wonder if I have and friends left?

My friend Lee makes dichroic glass. She makes other stuff, too, but her dichroic is just great! So, I wanted to tell you about her shop. I've purchased several pieces for bead embroidery and they are beautiful. In the picture below, you will see a necklace I made. Lee kindly gave me that cab and I thought it was so cool that she ought to have it to wear as an advertisement for her beautiful glass. So I made this necklace and sent it back to her. So, it came out nice, didn't it? Maybe I should ask for it back? No? Ok, she gets to keep it. :D Isn't that brick pattern cool, tho? LOVE those colors!

we bought this little cactus when it was a small little thing about 3 inches tall. Look, it has gone insane. What couldn't it just be a normal cactus? NOOOO.

And this one? Brian got this one when it was a baby, too. Maybe 4 inches tall? He named her Sally. She's 25 years old and look at her since he brought her home from his office. She stayed about 7 inches tall in his office. We put her on the lanai and now she's over 3 feet! Yikes! And she has red hair. :) When the sun hits it, the spines glow all red and ethereal. We have cacti issues. ;D

Most people have normal pets, yanno? I have Spawn of Satan and The Bruce. I do NOT want to know what that says about me. Sigh....................

So, I was in the kitchen sanding beads when I dropped one. Naturally, it rolled in between the fridge and the pantry wall, a space of about 5 mms. Swell.

Lucky I have Icabod Crane fingers. Not so lucky..I put on my glasses and got out my baby Ott Lite. Holy sh*t!! There were cobwebs big enough to swing on in there. I get palpitations from the horror of it all and run for the vacuum. Wine. I need wine. And I find not one but TWO beads! We will NOT discuss where the other bead belongs. :D

So, after frantically scrubbing down the kitchen, I take my maniac cleaning to the living room. One look at The Bruce's perch tells me he and Bhaltair are in dire need of a bath. I did not used to be a slob. Really.

Now, most of you know The Bruce. He's a Wee Highland Cow who hails from bonny Scotland. He's also a MAJOR pill. His cousin Bhaltair is a sweetie.

Anyway, I inform the wee cows it's bath time. Bhaltair says ok and The Bruce raises holy hell. Thankfully, I am LOTS bigger than both of them so I cart them off to the bath... aka the kitchen sink.

I figure I'll wash this pretty bowl while I'm bathing wee cows. The Bruce puts up such a fuss that I must resort to Chinese water torture.

You will notice the water runs only upon The Bruce. Bhaltair is laughing. :D Anyway, The Bruce is so awful that I promise him some wine later if he'll stop whining. He doesn't believe me but submits to drying when I told them to just pretend they were laying on the beach. Apparently one can fool a wee cow with an unlit candle. :D

When his wine was not instantly forthcoming, The Bruce got all huffy, went to the cupboard where he keeps his accoutrements, and proceeded to tell me he's leaving home. I said Byebye! and went to hold open the front door. Isn't he cute in his plaid and tam with his very own little suitcase? It's the one he brought when he emigrated from Scotland.

The poor Bruce. He is all verklempt that I so willingly held the door open for him to leave. If ONLY he'd take SOS with him!!! I'd PAY him!!! So, he remembers that I promised him wine. He waits. I wish I could say... patiently.

So, all the trauma is over. The Bruce is clean. Bhaltair is clean. My house is clean. Wine is drunk. All is right with the world. And The Bruce is back in his regular spot.

You know how you just wanna go play with your clay but you have no *oomph* and nothing in mind to make but you just wanna do SOMETHING? Well, Carolyn's Color System toot [how the Hunnibunni spells it :D] is the PERFECT answer!

I bought her toot a while ago and had some (ok, I admit it) problems grasping the idea. I can almost remember when I was smart. Can't think when I started getting dumber than rocks. :( But, I digress....

Anyway, one day I decided I would make color mixes. Yep... I have bought many and tried many and the mere thought of yet another color mixing toot made my Last Remaining Brain Cell start quivering in fear. But, I bravely got out all my clay. See mess below:

Undaunted, I dove in. Now, a collective "AWWWWW, POOR Carolyn" here, if you please. The long-suffering woman had to put up with frantic emails because my LRBC just couldn't *get* it. Then, it dawned and the light shone brightly. My LRBC was happy. I figured it out then wondered how it could have seemed like a hard thing. Jeez. There is no help for me, yanno? And poor Carolyn. Her halo is shiny! Not once did she tell me to take the proverbial hike. Not a single time did she tell me to take a long walk off a short pier. What a girl!

So, for the first time I had a roaring good time making new colors. It was just the perfect thing to do when I wanted to make something but didn't have anything in mind. I got to play with my clay, make gorgeous color combinations and not have to produce a finished product to sell. Therapy for clayers. :D

So, here are some of the fun things I made with my new colors!

And check out those fun tube beads. Carolyn strikes again! :) These are from her texture toot. So, go visit her blog at www.2goodclaymates.blogspot.com I also got her brand new bargello toot but haven't got to play with it yet.

I LOVE this color system. You can make all these fabulous colors and it just really rejuvenates the old brain-dead muse. Even my LRBC is feeling perkier! :DMoeArthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03183436606417293829noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7446526933938539547.post-62513915992652522502013-02-22T10:02:00.001-10:002013-02-22T10:03:42.349-10:00Fun StuffHi Everybody! Haven't seen you guys in a while. Thanks for stopping by! :D

I need some suggestions, ok? I got Christi Friesen's new Flourish book and now have leaves on the brain. So, I made these leaves last night and have ZERO idea of what to do with them. They are about 2 1/2 inches at their widest. I guess they should go on a box? Help!

And then I got Sherry Kellberg's toot on how to make faux lamp work glass. Now, this is a really fun toot! :D I made these blue and green mokume gane beads then spent 3 days putting on dots of liquid clay.
As you can see, on the last curing, the liquid clay started to singe. Now...my oven stayed at 275 according to the thermometer. This is the very first time ever that I had something burn. Oddly, all these beads were on the same bead rack. Check out this bead here:

This bead was right next to the barrel above. How did just one bead get so dark? But wanna know the coolest thing? Even this bead is beautiful. Instead of just being burned, the singed part is a root beer color with red highlights. It looks like dark amber and is really pretty.

So, because the singeing made such pretty gold sparkly colors, I made this bracelet.
And, when I'm not torching faux glass beads, I am making color combinations from Carolyn Good's Fabulous Color System. Here are my other 2 dragons. I got the idea for the standing dragon from Christi Friesen's book "Dragons". I really need to make more dragons. :DMoeArthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03183436606417293829noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7446526933938539547.post-74530609328250955462012-12-08T15:55:00.002-10:002012-12-08T15:55:15.936-10:00Dragons!I absolutely LOVE dragons! Here is the end result of all the trauma.

This is a terrible photo but you get the idea. ;) I had a bunch of these but I sold them all at my home fair yesterday. YAY! And I still have a bag full. I'm not doing glitter again. Guess why? MoeArthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03183436606417293829noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7446526933938539547.post-84804049386131477212012-11-29T12:48:00.001-10:002012-11-29T12:48:30.201-10:00Why People Become GrinchesMan. Why me?

Ok, I get these donuts from my friend. Stone, not sugar. Most of them are pretty cool. However, a bunch are only fit to decorate your doghouse with. And that's only if you hate your dog.

I spent 2 days separating out the good from the bad and the ugly. I'm done and now have a ton of cool donuts and cabs to turn into jewelry. But...what do I do with the rejects? Well, in my mental decrepitude, I decide that I can paint them and turn them into Christmas ornaments. Hah.

So, I gets out my Viva paint. 30 coats later, ok, the ornaments look ok, not great but ok. I hang some crystals on them and I'm good to go. The rest? Well, I decide I should put glitter on them to cover the horrendous paint markings. Whatever happened to paint that actually covered? I got out my acrylics which will usually cover just about anything. Nope. I put on about 15 coats and they are still streaky. Ok, glitter is the answer. Hah.

So, I get out the Future and Future everything then glitter it. Ok, so far, so good. I even had the foresight to newspaper my kitchen counter top before I started. I even covered a piece of cardboard so I could take the newly glittereds outside and spray gloss them. Hah.

Earlier, I had toddled downstairs to see my favorite maintenance man Patrick. He gives me some high gloss spray stuff/sealer. Goody. JUST what I need. I get back upstairs and decide I will also glitter and spray our star that we hang on our door each year. So, I go back downstairs and dig it out of the Christmas stuff and bring it upstairs. So far, so good.

Out comes the Future and glitter. Ok, I'm a happy girl. All is glittered and ready to take outside. Can you hear the IMPENDING DOOM music?

I get my glasses, the spray gloss, chopsticks, and the glittered things on their cardboard and head to the back stairs. A small aside here.... out in back of our condo we have this humongous air conditioning thing. It kind of resembles the Death Star. But, almost nobody goes there so, I think this will be a great place to spray the glitterables. I even ask Patrick if that's a good idea. Yep, sez he. Hah.

So, I fumble my way downstairs and out the back door all the while balancing my big cardboard that turns out isn't all that steady, the glitterables and the paint can.

I take the little path that leads me behind the Death Star. Lo and behold, someone has left a heavy green container full of Death Star Juice that is just perfect for me to lift an edge, slide my chop stick under and put the donuts on it. You were wondering what those chop sticks were for, weren't you? Another aside here. If you live in Hawaii, you cannot LIVE without chopsticks. They are good for about 20 billion uses. AND...you can also eat with them. Cool things chopsticks.

I blithely lift an edge of the DSJ only to find out that gruesome Death Star bugs have made nests in the handle. EEEUUUUWWWWW! While I am hopping around trying to rid myself of them, every single mosquito in eastern Oahu attacks.

Now, if you haven't experienced Hawaiian mosquitos, they are relentless and black. They fly in formations and attack on command of their Taliban leaders. Do you think my gyrations and hopping around deters them? Not a whit. Not only am I now covered in Death Star Bug pucky but I am also covered in voracious evil mosquitos. Black ugly Death Star mosquitos.

So, I finally decide that I have anti itch stuff in the house so best get this done before they find my dried up carcass a month from now and wonder what happened. Yeah, Brian, the Death Star got her. We're sorry.

So, I spray everything and entomb several DSMs, while I'm at it. I wonder if millennia from now paleontologists will find the evil things encased in gloss and wonder if it was some religious rite? Most likely. That's always the answer then the obvious escapes them. Must be a religious rite. Hah.

Anyway, now I am ready to head back into the building. Let the fun begin. We have these doors made of metal. With those old fashioned locks that need a dog tag key to open them. There is no way a 2 handed human can open these doors without using fully, both hands. Now, I have both my hands full of cardboard and entombed DSMs. So, I set my cardboard on the sidewalk, slap at 147 DSMs and make my way to the Door of Mordor. Little do I realize that I have set my stuff about an arm's length too far away from the door. *sigh*.

Ok, I get to the door and realize I can't reach my cardboard. Crap. So, I run out, drag the cardboard closer and run back to catch the door before it can close and lock me out. Of course, this knocks over the spray can. *sigh*. I run back out, grab the can then run back. I set the can off to the side near the door thinking it will be out of the way. Hah. I now know why my mother used to say the road to Hell is paved with good intentions.

So, I push open the Door To Mordor again and run out. While I am grabbing the cardboard, the door is closing and I hear...PLUNK...HISSSSSSSSSSS. Oh shit.

In my wild door pushing, the spray can gets knocked over. Does it roll away like any normal round can would? No. It has Death Star Mordor Evil in it and it wedges itself firmly into the door frame where the metal door is relentlessly crushing it. High gloss spray is, well...spraying all over. I am stuck with my glitterables and cardboard and high gloss is decorating the Door To Mordor and the sidewalk. Lovely. I try to clean it up. Did you ever try to clean up spray gloss with a paper towel? Don't. No doubt those paleontologists will come up for a REALLY good story about encased mosquitos and bits of manmade paper. Some religious rite, no? Man, those primitive humans. Good thing they are all dead.

By this time I am sweating, itching and generally not a happy girl. I need wine but I haven't had any for ages so I'm still being good. I get all my stuff to our front door where I fling out the dead gloss can and the cardboard. I dump the ornaments on my table. I still haven't looked at them but I do hang the star on the front door. Looks good. Hah.

So, I decide this escapade is worthy of a fun blog so I wash up then sit down to write this when what do I hear? MeeeOOOOWWWW, thump! Meeooooowwww, thump. Oh, crap. I go to see what the Spawn of Satan is up to. She has decided that the star needs her attention and she is yeowling at it then jumping up to try and knock it off the door. If it falls on her head, it will serve her right except I'll be cleaning up glitter until next June.

And you wonder why people become Grinches. *sigh*.

It's actually only been a few weeks. I ran out of some supplies. But yesterday I got everything I was waiting for and here are my latest. I sure wish I could find more of those yellow jasper stones so I could make a bracelet and earrings. Anyone have any good ideas about blending clay to make a dijon mustard color??? It's too orange in these photos. :(

And I love this fluffy necklace. I probably oughta make a pair of earrings to match this, too. What do you all think??
This is my bead mat pre-senior moment. This is what bead mats are supposed to look like, yanno?

This is my bead mat after a serious, brain-damage senior moment. Here I was making angels. I put glue on the edges of their wings so there will be no fraying. Naturally, I tipped one angel over and she fell, wings first, onto my bead mat. Well, crap. Now I have wet glue on my mat. *Sigh* So I decide to wash it. Now, I have often washed my bead mats in the washer but, when I am sane, I put them into one of those little zippered lingerie bags. Well, in my dementia, I just threw the mat into the washer. THIS is the result. So, this is your warning. Either don't get old or have a little bag handy. :DMoeArthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03183436606417293829noreply@blogger.com6
